Glenmere Mansion has been on the forefront of hotels incorporating an environment using sustainable, Eco-friendly systems. Being as diligent as possible, Glenmere strives to significantly reduce our hotel's environmental footprint using green best-practices in maintenance, services, logistics, products, and supplies.

One of Glenmere's greatest capital expenditures was installing a complete retrofitted geothermal HVAC system when the hotel was renovated for opening in 2010. One of the first hotels, and businesses for that matter, in the Hudson Valley to make that commitment we showed the business industry, and specifically the hotel industry, going "Green" is a conscious effort. To accomplish retrofitting the 35,000 square foot mansion with a geothermal HVAC system meant successfully eliminating the use of oil, oil furnaces and 50 plus radiators to clean energy. There were 19 wells dug 499 feet down in our main parking lot to retrieve the earth's energy at 52 degrees to transfer units for heat and air conditioning for the hotel.

Since opening, a concerted effort has been made to embrace a "Green"corporate culture which includes, but not limited to, recycling, reducing paper usage, offering vehicle charging stations for electric and hybrid vehicles, using natural fiber linens in all of our guest rooms, as well as offering guests "skip day" bed linen changing.

Our chefs at Glenmere are sustainability conscious sourcing much of our food from nearby local farmers. In addition, our chefs over-see Glenmere's extensive vegetable, flower, and herbs gardens as well as honey from our own bee colonies and eggs layed daily from Glenmere raised chickens. In season, our hotel harvests maple syrup from our trees and our Executive Chef Gunnar Thompson is a skilled forager for the best wild mushrooms from our nearby woods.

Our hotel's "Green" commitment is always evolving but we are forever looking for new and effective ways to reduce waste, save energy, and move our hotel to an eco-friendly environment.
